exhaust help needed

Unread post by Leroy22 » Sun Feb 19, 2017 1:14 pm

the pipes are im guessing 2&1/2" down to the crossover the turn 3",
so I put a muffler at the crossover with 3" in 3" out then 4' of 3" pipe.
truck is loud, to loud for me anyway,im somewhat older now but 40 years ago I would have loved it.

My question is if I drop the pipe size down to 2&1/2" all the way will it be quieter?

also I got the truck running real good after warm up,on the road is badass. took all the smog stuff out and the motor says it likes it.

thanks for the help

you should talk to an exhaust shop. It's not so much how big your pipe is compared to how good your muffler is. Maybe you need more baffling material

I found a nice diamondback cover that is on a 07 gmc classic style long box truck. Will it fit on my 08 new style long box truck??

I'm thinking they should be the same but you always have to check to be sure. Is it something that you can just drive your truck down and try it on to see?
