Honda will not start after fixing coolant leak

Unread post by Nicole » Thu Dec 12, 2013 4:09 pm

My Honda was running fine then it started to leak at the heater valve...and around the same time as the coolant leak started. The an idle problem started up after the car would start up and sit in park for any amount of time.Changed the distributor too and no luck getting it to start up...what do you think it is'

you should check a few basic things. do you have spark while cranking. do you have fuel pressure and injector pulse. and do you have good compression. (timing components and lifters all normal)

does it sound normal as the engine turns over? or does it just spin like there is no compression? Is the cam turning? check by looking through your oil fill or take the distributor cap off and see if the cam is turning. (could be a broken timing belt. If belt is good and cam is spinning and the engine cranking sounds normal...

Check your fuel injector pulse and spark.

Fixing your coolant leak quickly will ensure your vehicle has the proper coolant level to stay cool and safe. Coolant leaks can come from a variety of places in your vehicle and where the leak is will dictate the best solution.

Possible Coolant Leak Locations:

-Hoses
- Thermostat
- Heater core
- Radiator
- Head gasket

There are at least 4 hoses associated with the cooling system in your vehicle, but possibly many more. There will be a hose that carries coolant from the bottom of the radiator into the water pump and another hose that carries coolant from the top of the engine back to the radiator.
