2006 Pontiac GXP Intermittent ELectrical

Unread post by jeg5377 » Fri Jun 20, 2014 9:09 am

I have a 5.3L GXP that just started and intermittent problem. At a stop at idle my speedometer will jump up from 0 to 40-50 at random. At the same time this happens the radio volume increases and decreases accordingly. If I begin to accelerate at the time this is happening it appears that the transmission is not ready to move and sort of slips into gear. Anybody ever experience this wierd thing. It usually occurs after the car is sitting for several hours and eventually stops after several miles of travel.

that is a strange one. you might try watching the voltage going through your systems. try turning on your headlights and see if they also get brighter and dimmer.

First thing I would do is check for codes an any of the scan-able modules in the vehicle. See if there are any codes related to voltage. It sounds like there may be some surging or a poor connection somewhere causing the voltage to fluctuate.
