2003 Buick Lesabre Hub And Check Engine Light Codes

2003 Buick Lesabre Check Engine Soon along with the Gas Cap Loose warning. Both lights have been on for about three years. We are not concerned about htat, just the growling noise in the fornt end.

Question = My 03 Buick Lesabre is making noise. I thought it sounded like a wheel bearing. This was confirmed by a mechanic at a Firestone store.

What I'd like to know is how do I determine which wheel hub bearing it bad and how difficult is it to change one out.

buick lesabre

ANSWER:

The best way to determine what front side hub bearing is bad is to drive at a speed where the noise is present. Then make a sort of swooping turn. Similar to getting on or off the expressway.

The rule of thumb is that if when turning right, if the noise goes away or gets less, then the right bearing is bad because turning right takes the load off the right front because of body roll.
Vice versa for the left side.

These hubs can be a little difficult to replace. Bolts are very tight and are probably rusted.
Remove the brakes and the rotor.
Remove the large axle nut.
Remove the three 15mm head bolts on the back of the spindle. The spindle is the large part the hub bolts to. Then pound out the hub off the axle shaft and aay from the spindle. Clean the spindle of any corrosion before re-installing the new hub.

1996 Buick Lesabre 3.8 v6. Check engine light. We replaced the fuel pump. Question:
After fuel pump was replaced the vehicle would start right up. Filled the gas tank with gas and from then on needed to spray starter fluid to start the vehicle every time.

We have also replaced fuel filter and checked fuel pump relay and fuse. Any ideas what could be wrong?

Answer:
If the check engine light is on, then there are codes stored in the computer. If you replaced to the fuel pump for a different problem than this, and it started fine before the tank was filled, you may have gotten some bad gas.

Use a fuel pressure gauge to check pressure first, then if the pressure is good, drain some fuel from the gauge into a glass jar and let it sit for a few minutes. If it is contaminated, the gas will separate from the other liquid, or the whole thing will look cloudy and dirty if you have bad gas. Draining the entire tank and running some fuel injector cleaner through it may fix you right up.

Question:
2001 Buick LeSabre. Is there supposed to be a top motor bracket support a motor mount on top of the 3800 going over to the frame or something at the top of the engine?

Answer:
No. There is no upper front engine mount on the 3.8L V6 in your Buick. You are probably seeing on the engine or on the passenger side of the engine compartment that looks like there should be bolts or a bracket, but there is not.
