3800 V6 Engine Sensor Locations- Comments Page 3

Question: 2001 Bonneville has random misfires changed coil packs all icm cleaned every fuel injector by hand and working perfectly plugs lim gasket, and coolant elbows thinking coolant was entering the injectors and causing to misfires but wasn't that either. Out of ideas. Not going to check cat next then crankshaft sensor. No other ideas can anyone help misfires in park at 4000 rpms and when i drive and want to go the check engine light blinks indicating a misfire.
Answer: How the hell do you think coolant was going to get into the fuel injectors? Check the spark plugs and especially the plug wires. Check for contaminated gas.

Having problems starting unless u give it a little gas, idles real low even when engine is cold its a 2004 pontiac grand prix with the 3800 motor.
Check for carbon buildup in the throttle. Check for vacuum leaks.

I was given a Chevy 2003 Impala by my father in-law. It stalls about once a week - usually when sitting at a stop light with my foot on the break and the engine at ~600 RPM. Occasionally it will stall as I start to press the gas when starting out from the stop light. When it stalls I put it in neutral and it starts immediately and all is good. It will stall warm (after 45+ minutes driving) or cold, winter or summer. My FIL owned the car for 8 years and had the problem from just after the warranty expired. Dealer could find nothing, no ODB2 codes or CEL ever comes on. FIL gave me the car with a smile -- and a challenge: Find it! The car runs great when moving, has good acceleration, 25+ mpg, idles smooth and quite -- but stalls just like someone turned off the key. Sometimes it has a slightly rough idle for 5 or 10 seconds before it stalls -- but then starts immediatly and runs fine. I've checked the fuel regulator on the fuel rail -- no leaks on the vacuum side. Poked around under the hood (wiggle wires and connectors, look for wire abrasion) with the engine running. Nothing. I will start swappng parts -- MAF sensor first. Would you have other ideas / suggestions?
Without any codes to go by, i would not think it is a MAF. That would not cause a stall anyway. If it seems like the ignition was turned off, then maybe it was- i mean maybe a bad ignition switch. Try tapping on the head of the key while running to see if you can cause it to stall. Other than that, maybe a PCM.

2003 Pontiac Bonneville will not idle unless I unplug the purge valve?
It may be stuck open and causing a vacuum leak, or something is causing it to be open when it should not be or it is shorted electrically causing the computer to act up.

2002 Buick 3.4L, replaced bad motor with a 4000 mile motor. Before dropping in I installed new head and intake gaskets. New plugs and wires. Engine now shows cylinder 1 and 6 constant misfired on obd2 scan tool. Checked plugs, wires, and ignition coils for proper spark. All ok. Removed and cleaned throttle body. Checked injector balance, all good. Tested all injectors on scan tool by shutting each one down separated. rpm dropped with each injector. Did compression test average is 190 per cylinder. No signs of coolant loss. No signs of a pressurized coolant system. All vacuum hoses and upper intake areas sprayed with carb cleaner and no engine change in rpm. Turn on a/c and motor runs great. Could this be a bad or missed ground. Checked for missed did find any. Please any ideas would be great. Ready to burn the whole car.
What i dont understand is that you show misfires on 1 and 6, yet when you cancel the injectors, all cylinders dropped RPM. If a cylinder drops off when shutting of the injector, that means that it WAS firing- so not a misfire. Did the RPM's drop the same or different for 1 and 6? My guess would be that those cylinders were not completely misfiring. Like low compression- but they are not low. I would guess you have a valve seat problem on those two. Compression test won't show it, you need to do a cylinder leakdown test.

1995 Chevy Lumina APV 3.8L the van turns over fine, but does not start. Exhaust smells very rich. Don't have a fuel pressure tester, but couldn't hear the fuel pump running so it was replaced along with the fuel filter and air filter. Now I can hear the pump fine when the vehicle is keyed 'on'. Pulled a plug before replacing the pump. Plenty of spark, but the plug was very sooty and the gap measured out at .090. Have new plugs and wires to install, but would like to fix the problem before sooting up the new plugs. Thinking that it may be a combination of sooty over-gapped plugs and fuel pressure regulator or maybe a bad TPS. Any ideas? This has me totally stumped. Thanks in advance, this page is awesome!
Definitely pull the vacuum hose off of the fuel pressure regulator. I bet it it is leaking very badly.

Pontiac Grand prix gt 3800 s2 has a high whining noise what could it be?
That noise could be a lot of things. Check your power steering fluid, alternator, idler pulleys.

Same '95 Lumina APV. Installed new plugs and wires because they were obviously needed. Spark at all the coils checked out okay. Pulled the vacuum line off the regulator, no fuel in the line or coming out of the reg at any point of the attempted ignition sequence (multiple attempts). Checked TPS with a multimeter...no power to the sensor and no idea why. Checked the fuel pressure too at the rail. It's putting up 38-39 psi (+/- 2% according to test kit); pressure is supposed to read out b/w 41-47 psi. So lost.
Check wiring to PCM for no 5 volts to TPS. Maybe a plugged fuel filter for the low pressure.

Buick Lesabre custom. 6 months ago i parked it and it sat the whole time. I went to start it today and it started but when i push the gas pedal it dies. when i start it with starting fluid and hold it at 3000 rpms it stays running. when i let off the pedal and put it into gear it dies immediately and wont start without fluid. i held open the purge and turned the key and gas shot out. blue arc across the coil pack. What can the problem be please help? by the way no check engine light.
You have gas coming our of the purge valve? Check for a leaking fuel pressure regulator.
