Chevy Impala Remotes Only Work Right Next To Car

Question:
I have the same problem as the one listed below, but I have more miles on my vehicle. Is this problem covered under the 100,000 mile trans. Warranty? If not, I am guessing that they would want an arm and a leg for this repair. Probably not worth the money is my guess. What do you think? 2007 Chev Impala. Repairs done prior = Just regular maintenance and I changed the remote batteries.

Answer:
Yes, it sounds like this is your problem. Being a 2007, and that there is a bulletin, the dealer may offer some assistance with this repair. Also, depending on your VIN#, your car may be under a recall for similar problems that would be of no cost to you; that will also repair the remote problem. See picture below of how to remove cover and change batteries.

How to change FOB batteries.

2007 Chevrolet impala Did an oil change and tire rotation. The remote door locks on my impala do not work unless i am right at the car. Used to work from a long distance. Could this be the battery a key FOB problem.

Answer:
No, does not sound like the batteries. This problem sounds like a problem in the Remote function module / system. There is a Technical Service Bulletin ( TSB ) that will most likely repair this condition. Your car is under warranty, so take it to any GM dealer. The technician will replace the remote control door lock receiver, remotes, new remote module antenna, and program the module. The repair is free and should take about an hour and a half.
