question = car not starting. Engine cranks. Fuel not making it to engine.
Fuel filter fine has gas in it. Spray carb cleaner engine starts then dies like it
is not getting gas
Yes, if the security light is on, this is the reason for the no start, or starts and dies.
The system is preventing fuel delivery.
Most common cause is a faulty "Passlock Sensor", which IS the ignition key
cylinder.
There is a re-learn procedure that may get it to start, but wont last forever, until
the problem is repaired.
There are several pages with this procedure for your car on our site. Just do a
search your car make in the search box with the words "theft learn", or relearn, or
similar to that and you will find this procedure.
Theft / Security Light

The security system on todays cars and trucks prevents the vehicle from being stolen. There
are many variations of the system going back to the early 1990's.

This warning could be on when the engine is running, indicating a fault has been detected in
the system. If left unrepaired, there is a good possibility that the car will eventually not start.
