Re: Lock out switch on chevy venture
I believe I have a bad converter because over drive kicks in and kicks out, especially up hills. when I step on the brake it doesn't go into over drive and the transmission works perfect other than not having over drive.
Re: Lock out switch on chevy venture
Still lost, I have no idea what you mean by a 'lock out switch'. What you're describing now seems to be related to your other post about the transmission issues.

Re: Lock out switch on chevy venture
this has been going on for 3 years now. it only does it when it goes into overdrive. and when i keep my foot on the brake, it does not go into over drive. then it works perfectly. thats why i want to eliminate over drive or fix it? The old Beretta's and Corsica's and the old Celebrity's you used to be able to unplug a 4 pin plug in on the transmission, which did away with the over drive an thats what i am trying to do. thanks
Re: Lock out switch on chevy venture
Yeah, you can't do that these days. The plug on the older transmissions was for the TCC and was separate from the main plug. Now, everything goes through one harness and you can't unplug it or you'll have no transmission function at all. How about doing it the right way and getting your transmission fixed and not worrying so much about how to bypass certain things. Your van won't last long anyway if you're always driving around in 3rd gear. Either fix it or junk it.

Re: 1996 chevy venture van 3400 problems
check for a bad secondary problem. Cap, rotor, wires, spark plugs. do you know how long it been since those things were changed?
