2004 Chevy Classic 2.2 throttle issue?

Unread post by stargate » Fri May 02, 2014 3:11 am

After driving for awhile, and stopped at a light, it still idled but wouldn't move and throttle didn't increase. Then Rpms jumped way up, dropped back down, and car moved a little bit. It stopped again, then went again. Pulled into parking lot and put in park. Tried revving gas and it sputtered like it wasn't get enough gas. Plenty of gas and new fuel filter.

you should check your fuel pressure. If the condition still exists, scan the engine data stream and look ay the pre-cat O2 sensor and fuel trims. see if the engine is running lean. A shop would measure fuel pressure, look at the scanner data for fuel trims and maybe do a waveform graph of the fuel pump (current ramp)

you might want to look at your throttle position sensor to verify that it is reading normally.

I have a 2006 Chevy aveo. I have a throttle body in need of cleaning.

where is the throttle body located?
will i need to remove a lot of things to get to the throttle body?
is there anything I need to be cautious of when cleaning it?

the throttle body is where the air enters the intake manifold. There is a door that opens to allow air through. That's the throttle plate. the throttle body is the housing that the throttle plate is mounted. Tale off the intake air tube and you should see the throttle plate. What you would clean is the sides of the throttle body and plate where dirt builds up right where the throttle plate closes.
