1990 Iroc Z28

Unread post by bobby123 » Sun May 24, 2015 3:14 pm

This car has the 350, fuel injected, and hot chip. It Wasn't Driven For Close To Three years. Upon putting a new battery in it, it started right up with no issues. Now, it is beginning to miss badly and die while idling. If you give it throttle, it runs fine but will miss and die when you stop at a traffic light or stop sign. Sometimes, it will act like it's overloading and chirp the tires while in drive and holding the brake. I was thinking fuel pump but wanna be positive before dropping the exhaust and fuel tank. Any advice would be appreciated.

It's a lot easier to do a fuel pressure test than to replace a pump that may be good.

It doesn't sound like fuel pump if it drives fine but just has problems idling. Takes more fuel to drive than is does to idle. How old is the fuel? I would be checking the idle portion of the system. Idle air control, throttle body, coolant temp, vacuum leak...

possibly even plugs, wires...

Coolant temp is normal. Vacuum lines are a possibility because of the amount of time the car sat in the weather.

how old is the gas in the vehicle? Gas goes bad if it sits too long.
