if you have a test light, you can check the wires at the back of the headlights. Violet is one wire, red and orange is another and black is the third. Black is for the ground. Check for power an the other two wires. See which one is hot when the headlights are on. Then switch to the high beams and see if the other wire becomes the hot wire. If it does then you may have blown the high beam filament in both headlights. It's possible. If you don't have power on the other wire, you need to look at your dimmer switch.

do the dash lights stay on when the headlights go off? Does the high beam indicator come on? If the dash lights go off when the high beams are on also then you may have a short in the high beam circuit.
