vibration and grinding noise
vibration and grinding noise
what causes 1999 Honda odyessy to vibrate at idle and grinding noise, after the oil seal, waterpump and timing belt was replaced?
Re: vibration and grinding noise
who did the oil seal and water pump? have you taken it back to them and asked if they would check out your concerns? if it didn't do that before the work was done maybe something is off. double check the timing belt alignment. Idle too low, belt off a tooth, bad engine mount are things that could cause a vibration at idle. Grinding would be something rubbing or dragging. A bad part? Sometimes even a new part can be bad... Here is an example:

Not saying this is what is wrong with your car but you should have it checked by the person or place that did your work before you do anything else.

Re: vibration and grinding noise
seems the problem was the tension on the timing belt, new arm and pulley ,put Honda part in ,so far so good
Re: vibration and grinding noise
I'm happy that they found out what was making the noise for you. Like the video I posted, sometimes things just happen

Re: vibration and grinding noise
Grinding - Stop driving! Usually caused by a lack of brake pad.
Thumping from rear - Hard to diagnose, but usually the rear drums.
Squeaking - Either cheap brake pads or break wear indicator is hitting rotor.
Thumping or squealing - If car is parked outdoors, probably caused by rusted rotors.
Scraping - You may have picked up a rock.

Re: vibration and grinding noise
Remembered this video about new parts. A mew timing belt and water pump job. All new parts. What is that noise? it wasn't there before...

this was a bad part but you can have the belt too tight or you can be a tooth or two off on the timing that can cause driveability problems.
