I have a 2005 Honda Pilot and the rear blower does not work. I have just changed the rear blower resistor and it still does not work. But the blower does work when it is energized. Also, I accidentally touched the resister, when connected, to the metal frame and the blower came on! What is the problem?

you could have a bad signal to the resistor from the switch

So, the switch you are talking about is on the dash? And why does the blower resister when grounded to the metal frame turn on the blower?

you have a red wire that comes from fuse #55 (30A) the goes to the rear blower relay. The battery power goes through the relay to the blower motor via the blue and yellow wire. So it would be hot. the other wire from the fan is the blue wire that goes to the blower relay. So if you ground the circuit that goes to the blower it will turn the blower on. the resistor grounds the blower motor to turn it on. How much ground you bet is controlled by the control switch to tell the resistor how much fan speed you want.

on the resistor the black wire is the ground wire. it looks like the green wire is the switched wire for full speed that directs the circuit to ground. the red and green wire is the wire for the lower speeds that is controlled by the blower switch.

OK, starting to understand. So, which switch were you talking about? Where is it? Is it on the rear console, the knob which the people in the back can turn to make it colder or hotter?
It is still strange when you touch the housing of the rear blower resistor to the metal frame the rear blower comes on.

it's not really that strange. it used to be that American cars used power to turn things on and off. you would turn a switch and allow battery power to the item to power up. Things have changed a lot. Now many thing are powered up all the time, (or when the key is on) and the switches ground the circuit.

the blower motor speed switch is what you have to look at.
