ford moved the door pin cars used to have to inside the door. it's made into the actual door latch now. You have to remove the door panel to get at it. They go bad way more often that the old door jam pin ever did.

The fix would be to repair what ever is setting the light on, obviously. You need to get it scanned to see what code is stored in the airbag system and then diagnose and fix that issue to get the light to go off. There's no just telling you out of the blue how to get the light off when you don't even know what's wrong with it.

do I need A new Battery?

Unread post by woods5511 » Thu Jan 01, 2015 11:17 am

2002 ford ranger XLT....Yesterday morning, the battery was dead, put charger on it, it started right up, and I drove around awhile, then this morning come out and it won't start, I put charger on it, Charger said it was a good, (Charged). I had to leave charger on it for a few minutes, Before it would turn over and start. I drove around the block, went inside for 5 minutes, Came out and it wouldn't start, nothing, Just click click click. Cables are all clean and tight. it is as simple as a needing a new battery? the battery is rather old.......Funny this happened when the weather turned really cold?

cold weather is killer for an old battery. batteries work best if the temp is around 70+ degrees F. Cold weather slows the battery down. If the battery is getting weak it will definitely show up when it gets cold. Most battery chargers don't really test the battery. They charge the battery and tell you that the voltage rose up enough to read as full. And, it probably is full at that time. with the charger pumping voltage in and charging it raising the temperature. But the question is will the battery hold the charge. That's where a load test or a conductive test would come in. They will tell you if the battery can hold or keep the charge after being charged up.

If you take your car to a battery place they will usually check your battery to see if it good or not. A repair shop will probably charge you to test it but a bettery shop might not if you buy their battery.

Electrical problem with 2004 Ford 250 4X4, 5.4 L engine

Unread post by 1208doug48 » Mon Jan 11, 2016 6:33 pm

I have an electrical problem on a 2004 Ford 250 4X4 with a 5.4 engine. The battery is not charging - replaced alternator and still not charging plus the gauges not working. I had it on a diagnostic machine and it said the PCM was bad. I replaced it and the problem is still there. Please can you help me... Thank you.

check the brown 18 gauge fusible link on the right side of the engine compartment. (or battery voltage on the orange and light blue wire at the alternator) Then check the yellow and white wire to the alternator. It should have battery power also, but it gets power before the brown fusible link. If they are ok and you have battery voltage there then check fuse #45 (10A) in the left side dash fuse panel.

if fuse #45 is blown check for damaged wires in the steering column for the over drive switch. the wires commonly get broken or worn where the shifter moves back and forth and will short our the fuse.

let me know what you find out please.
