2010 GMC YUKON DENALI HYBRID

Unread post by mcharlet » Tue Feb 21, 2017 2:08 pm

I have a diagnostic code showing up on my car which is P0521. Can you explain that code to me and tell me what I may need to fix on it.

p0521 has to do with your engine oil pressure. your computer has specs programmed into it that has oil pressure parameters for certain conditions of the engine. You oil pressure sensor reading fell outside the predicted parameters the computer was looking for.

how does your oil pressure look?

I checked it and it is at 80. What is the fix for this? I haven't drove it since the light came on. It happened 2 days ago. Didn't know if it was something that could be fixed simply or have to go to an auto shop.

it's not just what the reading is at one time. the computer looks at what the oil pressure is at different times and conditions. Wrong weight oil, dirty oil, plugged oil screen, too much oil pressure, not enough oil pressure... you don't have to stop driving. (Unless the oil pressure drops too low) And if the condition was just a fluke, the light will turn off if the condition corrects itself after a while. In most cases where the light comes on and all the oil conditions have been in the correct range, a bad sensor cured the problem.

I had the oil changed about 2 weeks before this happened. Could that have caused it?
