what is that pump for? I'm guessing its for exhaust emission.
the hose piece in the picture is hooked up with the pump.
Can this be removed completely and still run?
Thanks in advance for your help.

it's your air pump. It pumps air into the exhaust ports to help reduce hydrocarbons and carbon monoxide emissions. I can not advise you on defeating federal emissions equipment
