No power to gagues GMC truck

Unread post by hotwil » Tue Sep 15, 2015 7:46 pm

Hello, I have a 93 GMC 3500 the gague fuse was blowing everytime I turned the key switch on, so I relaced the switch, now the gagues do not work at all, only thing that works is the glow plug light, also the alternator is not charging after I had it checked it was good. The alternator does not registor at all on the gague, could that be a ground, the dash lights do come on..
Thanks

do you have power to the dash fuse now? you said it was blowing before.

you"re probably going to have to remove the cluster and check for power and grounds. the connector should be labeled A to Z. F, O and U should be power from the dash fuse. they should have a pink and black wire. N and Q should both be ground. Black wires.

the dash lights have their own fuse that comes in to V on a gray wire. Grounds to Q.

No power to gauges but motor still cranks? If yes its your ignition control module in your steering column.
