Yes, the Trailblazer 4.2L engine does have an Engine Coolant Temperature sensor.

It is located on the passenger side of the engine, next to the last exhaust port near the firewall. It is a two wire sensor.

These actually almost never go bad. What is the reason you want to replace it? Do you have an engine code P0128?

Yes, the car thru P0128, I was told the ECT sensor was next to the Thermostat but when I opened up the car I couldn't find it. So I just swapped the therm. and closed it up, this seems to have fixed the problem. I'am glad you replied, if that didn't fix it my next thought was to try the top of the intake manifold, a few people had told me sometimes they were there but now I know. Thanks.

Yes, replacing the thermostat on your Trailblazer will fix the P0128. Always does.

Yes, removal of the shield to get to the temperature sensor makes it a lot easier to replace it.

I've changed out the thermostat in my 2006 trailblazer, but still getting the codes and a check engine light. The car runs great, but I can't get it inspected with the light on. Should I change out the sensor?
