Your vehicle has sequential fuel injection and each injector has it's own ground pulse wire. There isn't just one wire that controls the ground pulse to fire the injectors. The connector on the computer is C2, and the pins are 8,9,15,16,31,32.

does your van start up? does the security light stay on solid or does it flash? You got a code, do you have a tech 2 scanner? with a tech2 you can look at the passlock data

there is nothing in the computer that will heat up your starter. How hot does it get and what made you think to check it for heat?

if you have been driving around your starter will feel hot to the touch because it is under the exhaust manifold. to be too hot you would need to measure the temperature. Please tell me what your car is doing instead of what causes things to happen.

what was the problem with your astro van in the beginning? Engine wouldn't crank over? then, what have you done? then, what is happening now. Is the battery going dead? If it won't crank over, will jumping the battery make it so it can turn over?

Unread post by skcur » Thu Mar 27, 2014 12:25 pm

HI. Am having hot soak surge like symptoms at restart after about 1 to 4 hours on 1992 Chevy Lumina APV Van with 150k miles 3.1 engine. Wont idle without pumping gas pedal for about 1 minute, then no problem. Thanks for any help...

a leaky injector may cause a symptom like that. Fuel pressure regulator leaking too could cause a similar symptom. Basically the engine will become flooded and you have to clean out the excess fuel then it will run normally. You might want to look at your fuel trims to see what your computer is doing to adjust the fuel mixture whne the engine is running. See if it is taking away fuel from the norm.
