Chevy Trailblazer Throttle And Crank Sensor Codes

Question:
My trailblazer will begin to hesitate then the service engine light will come on. Then the abs light...then the engine coolant light. When i slow down the car will stall. It will not restart right away. If i wait about 10-15 minutes it will restart. 2003 Chevy Trailblazer LT Engine size = 4.2L. Computer codes: p1514, p1515, p0335, p0013. Repairs for this problem = ignition coil, o2 sensor, throttle position sensor, cam sensor.

Answer:
The first two codes are for the throttle position sensor which is part of the throttle body assembly. Many times a good cleaning of the carbon inside will take care of the P1514 and P1515 codes. The P0335 crank sensor and P0013 cam position sensor are usually just these sensors are bad. But with all these codes at the same time, and no parts have fixed it, you may either have a wiring problem or a bad PCM.

There are a few areas under the PCM, between it and the fuse box where wiring can break or rub against a bracket or mounting stud and cause a short. This would explain the codes in these 3 different systems. Clear the codes and move those harnesses around to see if you can get it to act up. If it does then you are in the general area and need to take the insulation apart and trace wires more closely. If you cannot find a wiring problem, then a bad PCM should be the problem. A scanner looking at live data stream would help allot in diagnosing the problems.

Question:
If I try to replace the Throttle position sensor, do I have to replace the Throttle as well? 2003 chevy trailblazer 4.2L. Warning lights = Check Engine light. Computer codes = P0222 and P0128. Repairs: none, had a hard time starting smelled like it flooded. Now it sounds like the fan is running.

Answer:
The throttle position sensor (TPS) is not serviceable separately, you would have to replace the entire throttle body as an assembly. As for the other code, and the fan running, you have a problem with the thermostat. It is most likely stuck or was stuck at one point before. It would need to be replaced as well, and comes with the thermostat and aluminum housing as one piece. Fixing both of those should take care of your problems and check engine light.
