Chevy Cobalt Electric Power Steering Repair Cost

2007 Chevy Cobalt. I seen where you answered this question on a car with 31000 miles and i was wondering if mine was under the same warranty due to my mileage. I don't know how to find out. If it is not covered how much is that part and service gonna cost me?

Answer:
Not sure exactly which question you were referring ton, but the warranty on electric power steering components is 3 years, 36k miles. Depending on which part is faulty on you car, the repair can cost as high as $700-$800, UPDATE: Since this post, there had been a power steering recall on the motors. Contact your local Dealer.

Question = DAUGHTER WAS DRIVING CAR, TAPPED BRAKES, THEY LOCKED UP, PULLED CAR TO RIGHT, TRIED TO CORRECT DID 360 IN ROAD AND ENDED UP IN DITCH. ANY IDEA, DROVE CAR AFTERWARDS, BRAKES SEEM FINE NOW EVEN TO TAP. Problem with my 2006 Chevy Cobalt LT 2.2L Ecotec.

Answer:
Well, if one wheel was on ice, and the other on dry pavement, this could happen. If not, then may have a right front brake caliper sticking. With no dash lights, would not be an ABS problem. Suggest getting it into a shop for inspection as soon as possible. Have brake pads and lines inspected. Have the caliper and slide inspected for free movement

2007 Chevy Cobalt.
I have no power steering sometimes on my 2007 cobalt with the electric steering. The power steering warning message comes on also. What can the problem be?

Answer:
The conditions you have with the electric power steering not working sometimes, and the power steering warning on the driver info center may be related to a service bulletin. There is a bulletin that depending on what code has been set in the power steering control module, that calls for the replacement of the steering column assembly. There is an in internal failure. Your car is still under factory warranty, so make an appointment with any GM dealer. The repair will take approx. 2 hours if the part is in stock. UPDATE: See Comment Below.

That is a recall for the Cobalts. The power steering assist motor needs to be changed. They will replace the assist motor that is not the problem in most cases..the assist module and the piece behind the steering wheel is the problem and they want to charge you up to 1000.00 to fix it...thats no fair for a on going problem on their cars.
