1995 Chevy Lumina sedan 3.1 L v6. Check engine light. Unable to check codes. I replaced fuel filter, fuel pump and strainer. On a cold start the engine runs for about a minute then shuts off no sputter. Immediately try to start and it sputters and won't start. Wait about 1-2 minutes and it starts fine then dies after same time limit. If engine is revved up it chokes and dies. No signs of water in the fuel and it seems to have adequate fuel pressure. I have no FP gauge to check FP.
Answer: Getting the codes scanned is the starting point to the problem with your car. With the check engine light is on, then there are codes stored. If you cannot get the codes, does that mean you do not have a scan tool? If not, then you can go to any of the large national parts store chains and they will do it for free.
If you mean that you do have the tool but cannot get any codes out if the computer, then either the tool is no good or you have a bad car computer or wiring problem. That may be the reason the car keeps dying out- the PCM is bad. If there is just a wiring problem between the PCM and the diagnostic connector, then that will prevent reading the codes but not cause your problems.
Without knowing if you have proper fuel pressure, that makes things even harder to diagnose. Just because there is fuel coming out of the pressure tap does not mean the pressure is high enough. You need to get that checked. You might have a bad fuel pump, but since you replaced those, i would assume pressure is fine.
Another thing to check is the fuel pressure regulator (FPR). If it is leaking into the vacuum line, that can cause your Chevy Lumina it to sputter and die out because of a very rich condition.
Be sure to check all the ignition coils for corrosion. You need to find out what is happening when it stalls- does the engine loose spark, fuel pressure, fuel injector pulse signal, etc.
If revving the engine makes is choke out, that means either fuel pressure is low, gas is contaminated, loosing spark or the exhaust is completely plugged, so the engine cannot breathe.
You could also have an EGR valve stuck wide open causing a very lean condition. There are really too many things to list without knowing what the DTC's are in the computer.

Answer: There are many things that can cause this. The key to this problem may be with the check engine light. Anytime a check engine light is on, there a "trouble codes" stored in the computer. This code(s) gives an indication as to what system is having a problem. Any number of sensors, low fuel pressure, wiring problem, etc. can cause the problem you are having. Having the computer scanned for codes is the first step.

Answer: We would really need to know the codes stored in the PCM in order to give much help. There are many things that can cause your Chevy to stall, but without the codes I would be guessing.
You could have a vacuum leak causing a lean condition. The car could have a bad Idle Air Control Valve (IAC). There could be a lot of carbon in the throttle, a bad throttle position sensor or any other sensor. Just replacing parts on your Chvy Lumina is not the way to go. You have already spent a lot of time and money on guessing. Get us the codes and we can be of much more help with the stalling problem.

Answer: If you have a check engine light, you need to get the code scanned. That may tell what the problem is. If you have a throttle position sensor code, then that sensor is probably bad. I would also have the fuel pressure checked, but with the engine light on, that is the place to start.
